What is Antimicrobial, and how does the technology work?

Our Evohold Antimicrobial rigid ID card holders are perfect for any company or organisation looking for a cleaner and safer way of offering staff, students and visitors ID card holders. Our Antimicrobial rigid ID card holders prevent cross contamination of any germs, mould or viruses.

ID card holders are seen as high touch products, so we have introduced an Antimicrobial version of our ID card holders, which increases the safety of your employees, visitors and students.

What is antimicrobial?

Antimicrobial is a substance that will reduce or destroy the presence of bacteria, viruses and mould.

The below image illustrates how the Antimicrobial additive works.

Is antimicrobial the same as antibacterial?

Antimicrobial prevents the growth of or/and destroys a wide range of microbes such as bacteria, fungi and moulds. An antibacterial specifically prevents the growth of bacteria.

Are there different types of antimicrobial?

Any substance that has an effect on microbes can be described as antimicrobial, including antibiotics, disinfectants and of course antimicrobial additives, however they function and perform in different ways.

What is Biomaster antimicrobial technology?

Our Antimicrobial additive (Biomaster technology) uses bespoke additives to create our ID card holders that have permanent inbuilt protection against microbes such as bacteria, virus and mould.

The drop in solution allows us to add the protective Antimicrobial additive into our polymer, to offer our customers a clean and safe ID card holder for the life time of the product.

Is Biomaster effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria?

Yes. Tests against anti-biotic resistant bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) have proven that Biomaster is effective.

Download datasheets on Biomaster additives for more technical information.

What materials can Biomaster be used with?

Biomaster is easily incorporated into any polymer, textile, paper, paint or coating. We use the Antimicrobial additive in our open faced rigid ID card holders.

How effective is Biomaster?

The Biomaster Antimicrobial additive within our ID card holders, provides the products with 24-hour protection against most harmful microbes for the lifetime of the product. It doesn’t wear off ever. Safe, for the life time of the product.

Is Biomaster safe?

Completely. Biomaster is based on silver ion technology, recognised for centuries with no harmful effect.
