This expected quality has secured cards-x as a go to brand for a number of well known, global organisations for all their event accreditation needs.

What types of customers are using our ECP accreditation card printers?

The CX ECP accreditation card printers are used by customers who operate in fast-paced, high-demand environments where flexibility, reliability, and speed are critical. Typical users include event organisers, accreditation agencies, exhibition and conference organisers, sports venues, festivals, live entertainment operators, and corporate events teams who need to issue professional ID and access passes on-site. These customers often manage large volumes of temporary staff, VIPs, media, contractors, and attendees, requiring multiple badge sizes and quick turnaround times without compromising print quality. The ECP range is particularly suited to organisations that value adaptable printing solutions capable of supporting different event formats while maintaining secure, efficient, and professional accreditation processes.

What are our ECP accreditation card printers used for?

Accreditation card printers are used to produce official identification and access passes for people attending or working at events, venues, or secure locations. Their primary purpose is to control access, improve security, and streamline identification in environments where large numbers of people need to be managed efficiently.

They are commonly used to print accreditation cards for event staff, contractors, media, VIPs, performers, athletes, officials, and attendees. These cards often display key information such as names, roles, photos, access zones, barcodes or QR codes, and event branding, allowing security teams to quickly verify permissions at checkpoints.

Accreditation card printers are especially valuable in live events, exhibitions, conferences, festivals, sporting events, and temporary venues, where badges need to be printed on demand, updated quickly, or replaced instantly. By enabling fast, on-site printing in multiple card sizes and formats, accreditation printers help organisers maintain professional standards, reduce queues, and ensure the right people have access to the right areas at the right time.

What are the most popular Event and Accreditation card sizes?

Oversized Cards (88 x 140mm)

The oversized card is our most popular event card size and as such we have seen a huge demand for the CX ECP-XL. This versatile Direct-To-Card model offers superior print quality in a CR-80 print area while taking extra large pre-printed cards.

Extended (54 x 140mm)

Due to the appeal in extended cards for sports and VIP passes the CX ECP-XT is our next most popular event card printer. Capable of printing 300dpi, direct-to-card, in high volume, on extra long ID cards (54 x 140mm), in a CR-80 print area, makes the CX ECP-XT an ideal on site event id card printer. Furthermore, the ECP-XT can hold 100 cards in its input feeder while turning around 180 colour cards per hour with full colour.

CR-100 (67x98mm)

The ECP-CR100 is our final printer. Capable of printing in a CR-80 area on the popular CR-100 event card, again allows flexibility to add personalisation at the point of issuance and make your event accreditation pass that little bit more special!

All the CX ECP Event ID card printers come with the option to have an encoder installed, such as Mifare, Desfire and NFC. Furthermore, you have the option to include ethernet capabilities.

What should you consider when looking for a new accreditation card printer?

When selecting an accreditation card printer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure the solution meets the demands of your event or accreditation environment. Key questions include:

  1. What card sizes and formats do I need to print?
Different events require different badge sizes, from standard CR formats to oversized or extended accreditation cards. Ensuring the printer supports your required formats is essential.

  2. How fast does the printer need to be?
For live events and on-site accreditation, print speed and throughput are critical to avoid queues and delays during peak times.

  3. Will the printer handle high-volume, on-demand printing?
Consider whether the printer is designed for continuous use and can cope with last-minute registrations, replacements, or changes.

  4. What level of print quality is required?
Clear text, sharp images, and professional branding are important for both appearance and security, especially where photo ID is used.

  5. Is the printer reliable in a fast-paced event environment?
Event accreditation often operates under pressure, so durability and consistent performance are key factors.

  6. What connectivity and software compatibility is needed?
Check that the printer integrates easily with your accreditation or event management software and supports your required operating systems.

  7. How easy is the printer to set up and use on-site?
Simple setup, intuitive operation, and quick ribbon or card changes can save valuable time during live events.

  8. Does the printer support security features?
Features such as photo ID printing, barcodes or QR codes, and tamper-resistant cards can enhance access control and reduce fraud.

  9. What ongoing costs are involved?
Consider ribbon, card, and maintenance costs to understand the total cost of ownership, not just the initial purchase price.

  10. What level of support and warranty is available?
Reliable technical support and a strong warranty are especially important when printers are being used at time-critical events.
